The press meets the flora, fauna and gastronomy of Oasis Park Fuerteventura

Friday, 15 July, 2016

Oasis Park Fuerteventura invited the media to publicise the latest news and park improvements. Digital newspapers and radio stations attended the largest park in the Canaries, with Europe’s largest Camel Reserve on Friday.

On this day in peak season, journalists and members of Oasis Park Fuerteventura were camouflaged among the wide audience which is visiting the park these days.  A tour of the old area has rekindled the memories that many of them had in the eighties, when the park first opened.

Journalists and cameramen have also had the opportunity to feed one of the largest groups of giraffes in Europe. Feeding them with a large assortment of fruit and being able to stroke these endearing animals which always attract many visitors.

Fauna LIVE, the big news

The press has had a firsthand encounter with our reptiles. A space opened in April and it is meeting its objectives: to remove the fear of the public when encountering species such as snakes, which are not dangerous unless they feel threatened. In this sense, having a snake within a meter does not pose any danger and this has been achieved with Fauna LIVE. This is a show where you can not only see reptiles; but also mammals. Journalists have seen for the first time a possum in the LIVE show and have learned more about civets or skunks. Learning which is accessible to all visitors.

Journalists have also enjoyed the cuisine of Fuerteventura in the  Patio Majorero Restaurant not before investigating the Botanical Gardens where you can look up to see cactus over five meters high.

A wide selection of traditional food including local cheeses, goat with potatoes in sauce, boiled potatoes produced in Oasis Park Fuerteventura´s own farm and croquettes were part of the menu provided.

A momentous meeting for better communication of many achievements is now in place for Oasis Park Fuerteventura. Births, The shelter of animals, recovery and reintroduction of species into their habitat, research and education are just some of the events that are and will always be news in Oasis Park Fuerteventura.
