As a free center for conservation and recovery of animals that we are, one of the important functions performed by Oasis Park Fuerteventura is to accommodate and treat those animals of our fauna that need to be rehabilitated for subsequent reintroduction into the wild.
A few weeks ago arrivedto our facility two individuals of Majorero donkey whose health was fully committed. But thanks to the work and dedication of the team that makes Fuerteventura Oasis Park in collaboration with agents Seprona of Fuerteventura,  their recovery is assured.
One of the donkeys arrived with serious hooves problems, the negative trend and severity of their injuries, took him to be slower and he couldn't flee in the presence of people, a situation that was exploited by veterinarians to approach the animal and load it onto a truck suitable for transporting animals to apply the appropriate veterinary treatment.
After his arrest three weeks ago, he was transferred to nearby Fuerteventura Oasis Park in order to on the one hand to be hospitalized in our facilities, and secondly to receive free care of our veterinary team. To his extreme thinness and apparent dehydration due to his inability to walk normally prevent him find food and water, he will be provided with a place to rest with food and water at his disposal. Then they were performed a series of X-rays to detect the presence of a  possible hoof defect, and cut them with the aim of correcting the defects he had, in collaboration with the equestrian center “Crines del Viento”.
He is currently performing two sessions daily cures, because the correction of hooves after so much time with the wrong aplomb, has led the animal to his joints and ligaments have acquired an anatomically incorrect position. With time, patience and hard work we will ensure that this animal that spends most of the time lying, will walk normally again. While it's true that full recovery is questionable and the prognosis is reserved now.
The other donkey, barely a few months old, came to our hospital with a fractured tibia at the height of the epiphyseal line compromising his mobility. Fortunately, through therapeutic bandages and drug therapy it is expected to weld fracture since it is a young animal. Your age is a great help for the team, for being a creature of few months is not aggressive and contributes to cures and dressing changes.
In both cases we dump the whole team of Oasis Park Fuerteventura, with the sole purpose of them going and ensure healthy soon be back to nature, where they come from, Oasis Park Fuerteventura collaborates with recovery efforts altruistically without compensation economic one.
